What was your life like before you entered this game?
Personally, I lived pretty alone in an apartment, and I had a job sorting mail for the local collage. Nothing too glamorous. Although, I never really wanted that much limelight in the first place, so it was pretty nice.

I was in college (MIT) and lived with my older sister. Got together with my highschool friends every weekend. The people I played my 1st session with.
I guess I was a normal kid.

I was kind of in a bad place myself.
Clinical depression had forced me to drop out of uni, and I was just sort of loitering about the family farm, occasionally taking care of the few IT-related jobs they needed me to do. I was seeing a psychiatrist, but progress was downright glacial.
Fortunately, Sburb kind of has a 'make or break' approach to mental disorders, especially for Pages. And I made it.
That's probably one of only two upsides to this apocalyptic murder-game. The other being all the people I've been able to meet.

Having hit eighteen, my plans were to finish my dump of a high school, say a completely insincere farewell to my mother, and jump into the military ranks. Being a soldier, that was my kind of thing. I've wanted something like that since I was a kid, plus physical exercise helps with the IED in general (Imminent Explosive Disorder- Rage aspect much?)
Anyway, agreed to play the game with my five other online friends cause hey, games are fun. Plus the soon to be Smith of Heart and Sylph of Hope kept on bugging me about it.
So yeah, entered, ended up on my Land wondering what the fuck was going on, eventually found out the Hope player was my ecto-sibling (what even is with ectobiology it is the weirdest shit. Forget the stork, babies come from meteors)
On the good side, I get to beat up imps all damn day. I don't have to hold back on violent urges anymore. Much. In my experience it can be easy to trigger whatever my aspects Beserk thingy is.
So...normal angry teen before all this bullshit and I became MORE angry.

I was fourteen when all the crazy stuff started. Having a boring sort of ho hum life, I was excited to hear about this supposedly awesome game and was totally psyched to be playing it with my friends (one of them being Ms. Grumpy Pants umbraShadows herself)
Life before Sburb really wasn't anything interesting. Funny how this thing makes you wish for a life where nothing ever happens and no glitches are out to trash your session, or no PK's lurking around corners, or Ringwraiths rampaging around in a hissyfit.

I was living with my mother and two little brothers. I'm still not sure where they are, as I was supposed to be babysitting when my friends contacted me about playing.
Everything was okay, it wasn't super interesting or anything. Had a small house in the country, it was nice and we had a large yard with lots of cats and dogs.
I thought the game would be fun... shows I didn't know shit. God I wish I knew what happened to my brothers...

Seeing as I started at 11, I had a pretty basic life before the game. Well, I was a bit of a smartass and tended to know far more than I should, but it's not like that's a bad thing. I lived with my mom in the middle of buttfuck no where in Texas. Literally, we had cows and fields and nothing else. I'm still suprised my first Land had nothing to do with either. I had the most amazing internet connection, we had our own signal tower. I don't even know how mom got her hands on it, I was too young to really care. Sburb was a birthday gift (woo-hoo session leader) and... yeah.

I was a pretty normal college guy. Third year Meteorology student, finally got an apartment, was trying to line up a NOAA internship in DC over the summer. Everything looked great. Then one of my friends told me about this superspecialawesome game she'd be getting for her birthday...
The first two years of college were rough, being 16 hours away from home and then a good deal of drama the second year, but I came to like the place. Honestly, It was like I was meant to be there. I may have never set foot there before college, but when I die I'll be Sooner dead. heh.
I miss everyone down there in Norman, and back home, too. At least my best friend from back home is my sprite now...

I was 12 years old, with a girlfriend (hah 6th grade romance), a nice steady job watching the neighbor's dogs, and a pokemon card collection that was the envy of the neighborhood. Life was good indeed.
Also, tS, I'm sorry. First session is the worst.

I started at 14, so I was pretty normal. Went to school, had friends, read a lot. Doodled in my notebook instead of doing my worksheets.
I had a blue jay as a pet. I rescued it from falling out of a nest and my cousin said I could keep it if I was willing to actually take care of it.

Jesus, talk about ancient history.
I was 13 when I started. I lived with my step dad in a small apartment. It wasn't much, but I liked it. I went to a middle school, and frankly, I was pretty unpopular. My attempts to obtain a girlfriend ended in dismal failure, and I got beat up a lot be ause I was a smartass. I remember I had a really shitty day, the day I started Sburb. I was so excited when I entered the Medium I thought it would be a fun adventure. Shows what I know.

Well, I lived in the Tower build near the volcano, that became our sessions forge. It was a frozen wasteland and my mom detonated herself when I was 14. Oh and our First Guardian, a bigass white flying peacock sometimes visited.
Also I kinda knew of the game, from my Prospit dreams. Yet Skaia has the balls to not show me the meteoric doom of our world.
And then I met our Mage of Time, and he wanted to investigate the Frog Ruins near my house. You all probably know, how it ended

I lived in a mansion with my governess and my grandfather. I was being trained for the civil service examinations. You actually lived by yourselves to go to school? Isn't keeping track of life distracting from one's studies? That's what I was told.
Then again my universe was post-scratch. So maybe I cannot generalize. Maybe you lived in communal housing like they did for Strivers programs in my universe.

You actually lived by yourselves to go to school? Isn't keeping track of life distracting from one's studies? That's what I was told. Not sure who you're asking. If you're asking about me getting an apartment, most people live in dorms with 1-2 roommates the first 2-3 years of college. Eventually, people try to get their own space, usually with roommates (partly to help pay rent). Then again, I assume you were referring to me, and whatever about being post-scratch. What even does that mean?
