Well, afaic, the idea of someone that is actually distributing the game and releasing official patches is nice (and I get the impression that canon suggests it somehow), provided that we make sure it stays at that. We barely know it's being done, we have no idea about who is doing it, or how. Skaia.net is a nebulous entity that lives in shadows and whispers, and made it eloquently clear that it wants to stay that way.
It may have to do with an idea I've been playing with about the game - that it's actually an elaborate form of reality show for some extra-universal beings, and "patches" are mostly a way for the creators to spice things up a little (the glitched ultimate reward would actually be a feature).
Also, the game sounds a little too complicated to only be something that "is". My idea is that a "universe recycling system" may have always existed, but to make something as complex as SBURB requires some direct external intervention.
