Dunno whether there are (m)any other people here who queer-identify, but I thought, if so, it might be nice to meet like-minded people and have a space to chat with each other about stuff. So. Yeah! ;D
Get in here, LGBTQQs!
/EDIT: Note to non-Western-humans! I'm saying 'queer' here to mean anyone who does gender/sexuality in a was that's significantly different to their own culture and society. So, for instance, Kathoey may not consider themselves "gay" or "trans" in the western sense, but they'd still be welcome here. Or a troll who only wanted to do sex stuff to one gender I guess? I don't really know much about how these issues are handled on Alternia, sorry.
Also, since I didn't think to make it explicit: Ace people are welcome too. Well, I mean, everyone's welcome unless they want to be dicks, but I'm including asexuality in "queer" for the purposes of this post. Yeah.

Sburb apparently no longer gives a damn about gender (as the female Bard in one of my sessions testified... argh, my eyes), so I think you're going to have to distinguish between "rolled a misgendered title" and "actually not the gender of one's body".

Um. I was thinking more in terms of self-identification than game mechanics? I guess? Like, I consider myself genderfluid and pansexual, IRL, completely aside from the game.
Who even knows what the game thinks, half the time I think it probably gives people mis-gendered titles just to mess with them. Though if people wanted to talk about the ways that the game has messed with their gender-identity, I guess that'd be fine too?
I might be being a bit presumptuous thinking there were other queers on the fora, as well. Um.
/awkward.

hey aA. most people really either don't think about it, and/or are mostly ok with their identity. One of the few good things resulting from Sburb. and then there are nonhumans that may or may not even consider gender identity and sexuality as a thing.
if that is a comfort for you, I don't have gender preferences when it comes to love life. that probably makes me similar to you in the terms of sexuality.
And gender-based Titles are bullshit anyway, glad they seem to just give up on this
((I think that LGBTQQ movement is not that large in the Sburb communities, cause Players don't give it a second throught. Its like: "it is ok for you to like whoever you want, and identify as whoever you like" cause trans person is just as effective as cis person, or homosexual Player is as effective as heterosexual one. if there is a bashing, it usually ends after a session or two, or as soon as a Player enters community.
Also gA doens't know what "pansexual" means xD))

((So much OOC, sorry. That may be, although it sounds kind of...optimistic to me? I mean, depending on what cultures they come from before hand, it seems to me that at least some people would take some time to get that meh-whatever about it. But also, I'd argue that the LGBTQQ thing isn't just about angst and dealing with oppression. Sometimes it's just nice to hang out with people who are like you and who get what you're going through. I wouldn't have even made this thread if I didn't think the forums were, in general, a safe space, you know?_But if it's not the sort of thing that the mods want in here, that's cool too. It can be deleted or whatever. ))

((no way it is going to be deleted. Like it is awesome. it was just a headcanon, and if you percieved it as harmful, i would edit it, cause i wasn't mean it that way.
Also as long as I am a mod here there will be no bashing.
PS: you may expect nonhuman character to respond here. remember this is an RP primarily, and even while the topic itself is serious, people will come here to have fun. at least i know my characters will do.))

((Oh, no, absolutely not. I mean, if that's the way most of the community becomes, that's super awesome. It'd be kind of ideal, imo, I really like it. And there are no hurt feelings here or anything like that. I just think, esp for newer players, it might still be kind of a thing, even if it's not a big angsty thing. Like, it doesn't have to be serious business. You know? Argh, I don't even know what I'm saying.
/flail
and I'm not sure if it was just IC that didn't know what pansexual is, but just in case it's that gender is a non-issue as far as sexual attraction. Like being bi, but without assuming a binary.
**Will edit first post to address non-western-humans))

... I don't really think this is the place to try and explaining heterosexuality to you trolls, considering the thread is about, well, pretty much everything else. Please just assume it's a thing.
If you want someone to explain the biological and sociological reasons that heterosexuality is the most diffused sexual orientation about humans, I dunno, open up a thread about cross-cultural comparisons or ask someone next time on the IRC. I dunno.
That said I'll leave the rest of you guys do your thing and poof.

I'm also on the confusion train. My species can change their physical sex easily, so sexuality is pretty. I identify as female, but I have been physically a male at one point in time. I could be male if I needed to be, but that would mess with the sessions gender ratio.

Let's just mark my stance on gender identity and sexuality as weird and then leave it alone, yes? Yes. Glad we're all on the same page.
If you want to tag me with a label, I mostly fit under asexual and panromantic. But sexuality is a complex thing, and labels are stupid.

If you don't mind, aA, could you answer a few questions for me? Feel free to ignore them if you don't want to answer them.
In your first session, if you had an ecto-sibling, what was, uh, hir gender identity? And what was the gender ratio of your first session? I'm just curious, because from what I understand, Sburb always tries to have an even group split along gender lines, and with someone who's genderfluid, I don't really know how the group would be split up.
I really hope I'm not being to invasive.

Not at all. Honestly, I'm not one hundred percent certain about which of the other players in my session is my ectosibling. But I think the game is counting me as female for the gender ratio. There are only two out of the six of us who identify as female; the others except for me are all male. And even though knight is a male title, I understand it's not that unusual for women to get it as well, so. Though if I'm actually in a scratched session (which is suspected for other reasons) there may be gender shenanigans in the other group that would balance this, too.Haha, short answer is I don't know, I guess. Sorry!
