I concede your criticism about the rangoon, fellow Aspect, but the consequences for not putting the warning are dire. Also, it is not my fault if your brother does not bother to properly read the FAQ.
Further, as a Mage there is a limit to what I can say without having to obscure my meaning. I am not going to destroy my coefficient just to warn about a disease that he should already know about.
It is good that you are not a doomed timeclone. I would request that you slap your brother upside the head for his actions, but I am sure you already have.

Sarah, good to hear from a you that's got the hang of a few things! I trust you'll know better than us how to persuade your brother.
Don't be afraid to be a bit sneaky in defending him while he protects you, and all.
dA, how're you holding up? Check back in with us soon, hey?

Oh god, this is so embarrassing. Danny, wherever you are, after reading this I am embarrassed on your behalf. Stop being so melodramatic, it's just a videogame and those monsters are clearly evil. I mean, you saw the ones in mom's house.
The worst part is, he's so set on "protecting" me but he apparently needed me to bail him out. I know how to play videogames better than you do! (Should I be writing stuff down whenever I see evidence of future-me?)

Yes, you should. It will help to prevent doomed timelines; you'd be amazed at how easy it is to forget that you saw yourself at X time in Y place, doing a thing until the game suddenly goes "whoops, you didn't actually do the thing at X time in Y place!" and then everyone gets trampled by a herd of paradoxen.

(Should I be writing stuff down whenever I see evidence of future-me?) Oh Lady. You're still in the phase where you think this is just a game. That's just... Adorable! And also really sad at the same time. It's like watching a newborn kitten that's about to be lowered into a meat-grinder. I'm not sure whether I should laugh or cry.
Fuck it, I haven't been able to cry for over a decade, I'll laugh it up like a good rainboy.
But seriously, this isn't a game. Permadeaths are just that - permanent. Anything you can do to decrease the odds of that happening, including badgering us vets for newbie advice, is fine and in fact heartily encouraged.
EDIT I see mention that you have a Mist and a Rain player with a close relationship in your session. Might want to warn them not to let the Mist player copy any Rain abilities. Bad things can happen.

You should listen to the old man here. I did and it made me insane for six sessions and created a PK. Lifdoff and Hardchorale can be copied, and another handful of abilities, but that's it. Refer to Smokes and Mirrors FAQs for details.

You know what else is a good way to reduce the odds of dying? Killing some of the monsters invading your house and collecting some grist instead of whining about how you don't want to for almost an hour (yes that's how long it took to get him out of the house *after* he noticed that the spawn rate was too high).

Ugh. Finally got my actual computer back, and... dammit Sarah, you knew I was gonna do that? Why didn't you say anything? I mean... ok probably time stuff, but still. Dick move.
Most of the enemies I've seen since the start seem to be acting, well, more like what you'd expect enemies to act like. So I've been running away a lot and occasionally, very occasionally, getting a few imps to run away from me. I think I've gained one level on the echeladder like that, but... I'm starting to see your point about slowing everybody down if I keep this up. I know they've all gained a bunch of levels by now and I don't feel like I've gotten much done, just a couple low-grade fetch quests. And even those took too long.
It's not like I can't outfight them at this point, its just that... well, it doesn't really seem like it is "them or me" at this point. If someone was trying to design this game to force me to kill things they seem to have done the exact opposite; even with the ability to climb on the cliff walls it's a joke getting away from the spider-imps and ogres with the Propellorpack and they tend to get lost in the fog anyways. Even the consorts can just change colors and hide from pretty much everything. So the monsters are pretty much no threat to anybody... but I'm not getting anything done like this.
You know what, I'm just gonna rename the topic title. Hah, like she even needed help.
edit: Oh yeah, by the way. I noticed one area near where the first gate lets out where all the imps act just like they did in my house, which is to say they completely ignore me. I'm assuming that's supposed to be an area where they all pile on me in a huge mob. Not complaining.
