Okay guys, I'm going to follow bits and pieces of the comic, the FAQ and these forums to try and form a coherent description of the Scratching mechanics.
Bear with me here (and help is welcome ^^
WHAT is Scratching
- Scratching is when players reboot their session.
WHO does the scratching and WHO plays the new seesion?
-The Scratch is performed by the players of the doomed session. The rebooted session will be played by the biological ancestors of the players, now flipped to be the descendants. (Ancestor and descendant are being used in a loose sense. The Ancestor and Descendant might just be siblings a few years apart in both the pre-Scratch and post-Scratch)
WHEN is the Scratch to be performed?
-Typically when it is proven the session is unwinnable.
WHERE are the mechanism needed to cause the Scratch
-The mechanisms are typically in the Time player's land. If a Hero of Time is not present in the session, it will be in another land, most likely the Space player's, but it will be a lot more hidden.
HOW is the Scratch performed?
-A player must collect the required items and use them on the Scratch mechanism (I'm under the impression that the way to cause the Scratch differs between sections. In the Kids session it was using the Quills of Echidna in the Beat Mesa, but another session might use an egg beater on a egg or keeping with the Scratch name, nails on a chalkboard and things of the sort.)
WHY perform the Scratched?
-Because the session is completely unwinnable. And there's a possibility the players might escape the Scratch.
HOW to escape into the new session?
-Space shenanigans mostly.
WHAT is a Scratched session like?
-The Scratch session will most likely be a Darker and Edgier version of the previous session's world. There is a tendency for Sburb to be acquired in a digital format rather than on disk
This is what I have ^^;. Sorry for the silly format, I couldn't get my thoughts on track.
