spenih would like to reinforce that there will be no hemist or castist hazing if any occurs the moderators will have to take disciplinary action and spenih really doesn't want to have to do that so please keep things polite and civil thank you

What did I just fucking say? If you two keep it up I will find a way to choke you both out through the internet using the Breeze! Maybe a little bit of [Take Your Breath Away] would teach you two a damn lesson?
Edit: Or listen to the mods. The caste thing was a question, not an invitation to start a fight about it.

Seriously, both of you, shut up about your castefighting. What the hell? We're stuck in an unending hell of apocalypse and death and you are fucking squabbling like peeping chicks over stuff that died already with your stupid homeworld? Seriously?
AS: how is the four-person mating pair viable? I mean, don't they fight? Aren't the other males around sort of freaking dangerous to the kids? I cant imagine putting up with other adults hanging around my mate.

@ww: Well actually it sort of like all of them are in love. The males also share in the love and affection of each other. That and the fact that we aren't really a danger to our own pups. We weren't a very violent race. Also being able to switch your gender helps keep the males from getting too territorial, because they usually switch off before they can build up enough hormones to be violent. There just isn't a whole lot of fighting once the arangement is made.
@sf: Your species normally is horned, right? What purpose do yours serve? Are they for attracting mates for your quadrants?

o.O Weird. I mean, not bashing or anything, just. Hard to imagine. If my mate had eggs by someone else (not that she ever would have, mind) I would not have hesitated one second before knocking the filthy things out of the nest. Though I don't think people actually ate hatched chicks anymore much, even before the fiery death of my homeworld.
Trolls: is there a difference between your pity-eggs and your hate-eggs? Is that why its not an issue?

Thherre is no differrence. It is thhe Mothherr Grrub whho lays thhe eggs, and lusii arre thhe ones thhat carre forr the young. Trrolls hhave nothhing to do withh thheir descendants.
I do not even know if I hhad any live spawn, prre-game, and I do not carre.

Hey, societalFlame, remember when I mentioned to ignore the mod thing unless I'm talking about the rules? This is probably a bit belated, but...
*MOD VOICE* Discrimination is a no-no here. This includes on the basis of species, caste, beliefs, role, blood, ethnicity, pigmentation or any other standard that might come to mind. Hemocaste is not an exception.
Please be more respectful of your fellow forumites - we don't need to be at each other's throats here, the apocalyptic murder-game is bad enough on it's own. Exceptions are made for your Kismesis.
I know that your native culture is important to you, but you're honestly displaying some of the worst aspects thereof. You're giving your culture and species a bad name here, and I know nobody wants that. So why don't you take a short while and think things over a little? Maybe do a couple of maturity quests and chill in your Homefree for a bit, and we can carry on this talk when everyone is better able to sit down and have a reasonable discussion, eh?
repentantPrimogen, this applies to you too, go take a break for a moment and let's try this again, only without the insults. This thread is not the place for debating the relative merits of Alternian civilisation, regardless of how we each may feel on the matter.
You both broke it off on your own, so good job, but I don't want to see it happen again, *MOD VOICE*
((Blargh, ED wasn't even intended to be an IC mod, but people have been referring to him as one IC so I guess that it's a thing now.))

@ww: From what I have seen/heard from others, it is quite odd. But it is a system that works, and produces enough offspring for us to have any chance of survival. It doesn't matter so much now though, considering there aren't a lot of us left. I would have started my own den at this point in my life... It is quite lonely when you know you should have a large family surrounding you and you know that isn't going to happen.
@ed: Thank you.

I think the most shocking revelation that this thread gave me is that you trolls don't care for your young. I am not sure how much my case is significant but having parents is awesome.
Thanks for intervening on the whole debate between SF and RP, ED. I wanted to myself but I would likely be at least somewhat biased.

I don't know. I mean, it sounds a little lonely--chicks are pretty freaking cute. I wouldn't have minded some, someday. Though maybe you can sign up to be a lusus or something like that, that wouldn't be too bad. But, honestly, if you're going to have more than one mate, taking the eggs out of the equation entirely sounds like a pretty sensible way of handling things, to me.
At WW: I'm sorry, man. That does sound harsh. Though families dont last long in this shithole game anyway, so maybe its for the best. If you ever end up in my sessions though, my nest is open to you, for what its worth.

@tt: If I were not a mod, I would be helluva biased on this one. I mean, I had this big rant all written up and ready to go, but then I remembered "oh shit, I'm a mod, I have to actually be somewhat responsible about this" and then whoops, had to delete it all and write something more appropriate in it's place. Blasted responsibilities, making me act all mature and stuff.
Back on topic, the way Trolls raise their young is actually kind of cool. The whole Lusus thing and everything. Not fond of the random cullings (whee, science says that that's actually really bad for your species), but the rest of it is pretty interesting. I totally would love to hear some stories from our Alternian brothers about their childhood memories. I would be all for sharing some of my own childhood stories in exchange.

understood Extropian One, I will refrain from this topic on public boards
Sir Cole, we have Lusus Naturae for caring about our pupas and most of them are competent, and teach us how to survive

So trolls aren't raised by members of their own species? That's amazing.
I wouldn't mind exchanging childhood memories. That sounds like it fits right in with the theme of the thread.
