Umm, looking through this thread appears to provide depressing answers to what I want to ask, but I feel obligated to ask anyway for the sake of a time player in my session right now: Is their any way to avoid making a loop stable while not dooming the whole timeline? Our time player has a pretty big "sword over the head" scenario; he saw one of his future selves suddenly appear in front of us during a fight and sacrifice himself to keep his current self from dying. Of course, he doesn't want to have to die in the future, and while he knows he can delay it (by the very nature of time traveling), he still has the unpalatable prospect of having his death set in stone.
