Hi, my name is June Hachi. There's no point in beating around the bush about it, so I'll be blunt: You guys do a poor fucking good job looking out for each other. I'll explain: Mark Fall, aka TimelyTurnabout here, was a reasonably active member of the community for a good while. He's better known for a big cooking guide he apparently did a while back. One of his last posts here was asking for help planning out a showdown with the Black King. The fact is, he didn't make it. The rest of the party survived, but I only now heard about it. I'm not saying the whole freaking forum needs to go into mourning. Shit happens, and people die out there. That said, somebody should have noticed. This seems to be a wonderful place to share advice, make friendships, and stay sane. The forum is big, and I know we all need to insulate ourselves from hurt, but if an active member can fall off the face of the incipisphere and no one notices, then something is seriously wrong. I don't really have any ideas what to do differently, other than to pay attention. Those other posters are people too. PM someone if you thing something's wrong. And screw you all. Mark was a bit of a dork, but he deserved better from you. -GP ((OOC: okay I can't stress this enough: you all are awesome people and this post is 100% in character - I have NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER with ANY of you. You all rock! The character TimelyTurnabout is dead, but I (mutecebu) am happy and healthy. Feel free to react as you will to the hostile post, though know I don't have any problems with you personally.))

Every single death is a tragedy, but people die a lot in this community. Hate to say it, but it's the corpseparty for a reason. There just isn't time to properly mourn all the fallen, not even if you have The Beat on your side.
After you've buried enough of your friends, you just sort of run out of things to say at their funerals. Eventually you just stop saying anything at all. Just voicing the same empty platitudes feels like it's dishonouring the dead, and I ran out of eulogies to give years ago. Just shrug, move on and let your actions be the tribute you give them. That's how things are now, all I can really do any more, and I hate it.
I'm not even sure how many people I've watched die with my own eyes anymore, let alone the ones I only knew from the community - probably triple digits, but I stopped keeping track a while back. Less depressing that way. There's a reason I haven't put up a thread in the 'In Memory Of' subforum.

Yes, because it's not like none of us have problems of our own. We totally just derped and didn't notice that someone dropped off the grid because of this wicked game of Tetris.
We certainly haven't been dealing with, y'know, Angels acting up and Others coming into the chat to have friggin' tea. And there definitely haven't been any people dealing with SD or PKers.
Oh wait, none of this is true. The game's gotten weirder than usual, lately, and we've been up to our ears dealing with it. Yes, it's terrible that we didn't notice - but we've been legitimately busy.
