Hello, my fellow damned players of this infernal game known as Sburb. I wish to impart you with some knowledge I have required over my many long years of going from session to session and dealing with the problems that inevitability occur in them. Since my initial session as a Page of Dream (I prefer Dreams instead of Dream, but whatever) I have been given the class title of Bane or Sylph many, MANY TIMES. I believe this abnormal trend has given me some insight on PK’s. To be more specific, I have discovered that the chances of someone becoming a PK is multiplied quite sufficiently if you cursed with a particular title in a session. Anyhow to the heart of the matter, I have compiled a relatively short list of titles that in my experience lends to a player becoming a quite dangerous PK if they have them. I hope this list will help prevent potential tragedies in a session before they even have time to occur. (Then again, this game is all about fatalism, so perhaps all our tragedies are predestined and unpreventable, talk to your Time Player about this) I hope that my rather depressing history as an executor of former friends turned sociopathic killers will prevent other Bane’s or Sylph’s from having to fulfill the same duty. So without further ado here is my list.
8. [EDITED]: Those who gain the EDITED title in their First Session are almost always self-obsessed, narcissist, egocentric, mirror grazing morons who can only care about their own wants and needs. The very fact that a lot of them still maintain this attitude even after their entire planet was just destroyed by flaming meteors and almost everyone that have ever know has just died horribly, is even more appalling. My hatred towards EDITED aside, EDITED are the worst of the batch and total PK bait because when other EDITED find out that they have to buddy up with another Player if they want any chance of surviving the game they will inevitability team up with someone who will not take their self-absorbed whining bullshit. (Please pardon the language) I believe Sburb deliberately ensures that this happens to force the EDITED Player to get over themselves and realize they are NOT the center of the cosmos. Unfortunately when you add a EDITED to the mix all they have to do is immediately rip out that fiery defiance by using their EDITED abilities, turning their charge into a soulless (shinyless?) slave that they drag around just to keep their role-play coefficient up. The PK’ing comes up when the other Players of the session notice this abuse and try to stop it. A EDITED will do whatever they can to keep their mindless puppet docile and quiet even if it means killing the other Players.
7. [EDITED]: I cannot stand these guys. They always attempt (quite poorly I might add) to logically explain their actions, no matter how horrible, ridiculous or downright traitorous they are. To illustrate, in my 5th session one these lunatics, got into their diamond encrusted skull that killing three of our fellow Players and offering their corpses to the Black King, would not only satisfy his need to destroy Skaia, but also make him decide to somehow reverse the Reckoning and resurrect Earth from destruction. The lunatic raved about some master plan he had been working on from the very beginning of the session and literally through at me entire stacks of notes and diagrams that he said were complex psychology studies of the Black King’s personality and thought process. (Does the Black King even have a personality, or talk for that matter?) Long story short, I bashed that thick skull of his inwards when he started rambling about King’s intense phobia of frogs and eight sided die. The really reason why EDITED are so likely to PK is because they rationalize all of their actions no matter how insane they are.
6. [EDITED]: This is a very obvious one and I’m sure that no one’s going to grasp aloud and argue about it. EDITED like all first time EDITED are very short-sighted and cannot perceive anything that is not directly in front of them. What this means for EDITED is that they cannot see past all the tragic and despairing things that will occur to them and everyone else in their session. For most EDITED this will usually lead to Clockwork Sorrow (check GGTG’s chapter on Sburb Mental Disorders) but for EDITED they will quickly believe that all of his/her fellow session Players actions are pointless in the face of temporal inevitability, and thus devise a means to kill them all off. Do not be surprised when your EDITED is screaming like a town crier about how doomed everyone is and how much Sburb destroys free will all the while trying to kill you.
5. [EDITED]: This title is one of the more disturbing one’s that I have encountered in my time. The reason why is because EDITED usually don’t PK their victims right away, they try to heal them first. To explain, EDITED like most other EDITED are a kind of healer that uses their aspect as a form of medical or mental assistance. What this means for EDITED is that will try to heal someone by driving them to lunacy and madness. Know for you wacko EDITED Players madness is all well and good, but for those of us who have to have some semblance of sanity to accomplish their roles it’s definitely not alright. EDITED will start PK’ing when their attempts at healing their victims fail or are taking too long.
4. [EDITED]: This title in particular can be a very sinister one and quite very devastating to Players how have to deal with it. To explain, a EDITED in translation to this game’s strange mythology and mechanics is someone who destroys or ends things subtly and unpredictably by slowly understanding one’s weaknesses and using them against him. Now this will not necessary lead to these spoony EDITED plotting to kill their session-mates, usually they will just mess with you emotionally by randomly pestering out of the blue and proceeding to frightening and accurately describe all your faults. But when they do decide to do some PK’ing they will be a terrible enemy that will know you to well and you probably not see coming. This is either because they have pretended to be a trustworthy friend for the majority of the session or have seemingly done nothing but stay on their Planet. In truth though, they have been watching you and analyzing you from the very beginning. Everyone hates the EDITED.
3. [EDITED]: These fellows quite simply have no impulse control. They just act with no foresight or strategic thinking, and rarely even waste time looking back with hindsight when have done something. I think you can all tell were this is going and how destructive this title can be when misused. Just imagine for yourselves want you would do if you suddenly just did things that immediately came to mind. Things like burgeoning your best friend to death when he absent mindly reveals some embarrassing childhood secret or straggling your sibling to death when they decide to intrude in your room for whatever reason. Unfortunately, EDITED don’t just imagine these overly violent thoughts; they act on them without once thinking of the consequences. With all the bickering and inflated ego’s that occur in a session, it’s really no wonder that EDITED tend to go PK.
2. [EDITED]: This is too easy. Their EDITED Players with the most destructive aspect possible. What did you expect to happen?
1. [EDITED]: Alright, as you all should know the purpose of this game besides creating new universes is for its Players to mature and grow up. Sburb is supposed to challenge and comfort you about the problems that you probably never wanted to face when you were still a kid back on good old Earth. One of these problems probably had something do with your romantic life, or lack of one. If so, then you most likely got the EDITED title when you entered this game because of that. If aforementioned romantic pursuit was pathetic and “hopeless” enough that it was the number one emotional problem in your young life, then you most definitely received the EDITED Aspect to go with your EDITED Class. The problem with EDITED comes into play when you consider what this means with relation to any given romantic hope. Sburb wants this pathetic, love struck, emo hipster, Casanova wwannable to give up and destroy their own hopes of their fantasy hook-ups coming true. By completely destroying their hopes of romance, the EDITED can mature, come out of his roz colour haze and realize, “oh shit, I’ve wasted my entire life pining for a girl who barely even considers me a friend and kinda thinks I’m a complete stalker loser!!! And holy shit my entire planet was just destroyed and all I cared about was the fact this will probably increase my chances of her noticing me!!!” The game wants these guys to get out of this kind of sad sack emo mentality and realize that creating universes is much more important than whether a girl likes me or not. Unfortunately, EDITED are notorious for totally not getting the message and moving on with their lives. In fact, they usually devolve into psychotic immaturity that involves ridiculous duels, short-sighted betrayals, and worst of all assuming that anyone who decides to contact them is hitting on them. All these actions inevitability lead to PK’ing, either by the sadsack EDITED, the annoyed object of this affections, or even the rest of the Session Players who are just getting tired of his shit.
PS: I would greatly encourage other Players to list any other titles they believe to lend to a Player becoming a deranged PK.
