Ugh, this absolutely sucks. You've been running from this weird (ticking?) guy forever. This diner you ducked into is the first time you've managed to sit down for a while in a long time. You spent one of your last few dollars on a cheap cup of coffee. Not that you need it. You've been awake for weeks...
A waitress approaches your table.
"Can I get you anything with that coffee?"

"No, it's fine, just black." I respond, staring into the dark brown cup of coffee. I take a short drink of it, just enough to get the taste of the bitter liquid on my tongue. Anything but Black would dilute the taste, to me.

The waitress shrugs.
"You're the boss. I'll just bring up your check and you can pay that when you're done with your co-"
She doesn't get to finish that sentence.
You don't notice the exploded head, the fact that you're splattered with crimson or the completely destroyed window, even though the other patrons do. No, what you notice is the person who caused all of that.
You remember that build anywhere. You'd almost think he's made of metal if that weren't so obviously impossible. He's preparing his rifle for a second shot.
You know that this time, he won't miss.

I don't have time to run, that much is obvious from that he's already getting me in his sights. As much as I'd just love to dive out the window and run, instead I throw the table to the ground, and duck behind it, grabbing the chair I was just sitting in to throw when the rifle punches into the metal of the table, but before he can reload his shot for the kill.

You can feel the dent in the metal when he fires. You're surprised it didn't break through, but you decide to count your blessings. You throw the chair, and you hear the man get knocked over. Thank god for the element of surprise, you guess.

He's on the ground, knocked over. So of course, my eye shoots straight to that gun that got knocked out of his hands when I hit him with that chair. I dive for it, attempting to secure it in my hands so I can get rid of this guy finally, and maybe get a chance to rest for once.

You see that his gun's clattered to the ground beside him. You lunge for it as he attempts to get up. Your fingers close around the barrel.
And then your hand is caught in an almost vice-like grip.
He lifts you up to his eye level. His eyes look almost fake. Underneath the bowler cap he always wears, you could almost swear you see something spinning slowly against the fabric, but that's not important. Right now, the guy who wants you dead has your arm caught in his grip.
Things might end poorly if you don't do something.

Of course I went for the gun. Why did I do that. I glance around for something, anything, to let me get out. To let me just run.
Chair, no, he'd shrug it off now that he expects it.
Table, no, too big for me to swing.
If I could reach the ancient, grease-caked stove on the other end of the diner, I could get out. But that's too far.
The heat of the coffee makers, or the frier, those could do it too. But they're still too far away.
Then I feel my arm - no, my whole body - heating up. It's almost too much to bare. But it should be enough to burn his body. I'm not sure what's going on, or if it will ever stop, but I'm very glad it's here right now.

The metalic flesh of the hunter turns bright red as my body heats up more and more. I'm not sure how I'm still conscious, with the heat from my body causing sparks as I grit my teeth from the pain. But as his flesh - no, I'm certain it's bronze - melts onto my arm then just as quickly off, it fades, leaving me alive but winded, and him certainly at least with one less arm and one less gun.

He doesn't seem to be that phased by the fact that he's missing an arm.

He's advancing on you again, and this time there's nowhere to run, except... That door wasn't there before, was it?

Well, whether or not it was, it's right by my hand and a convenient way out, a good way to escape. I open the door and slip inside before he can do any more damage to me. I slam the door shut behind me, hoping for my life that it doesn't open soon.
