What are the best ways TO COMBAT ENEMIES?
I know that IMPS ARE EASY TO defeat, just BASH, BLAST, or slash until Grist GOES AND COLLECT IT, repeat until boonbond, BOONBONDS EVERYWHERE.
I use DEATHRAYKIND, in case wonder WAS THERE.

i've yet to roll a "strife focused" class so far, but really it sounds like you're fine for now. early on you really shouldn't need to look for "better" methods of fighting, but depending on your class/aspect, you might want to start getting more in tune with it. like, if you're a Waste of Flow or something then spam abilities like there is no tomorrow. fraymotifs are useful, but way too expensive without major shenanigans.
really, do what feels right. your Strife Specibus will give you at least a bit of skill, but on a personal level I should suggest two things. first, remember that you can always abscond: SBURB doesn't let overconfidence survive for long (outside Blood Players). second, try not to get surrounded. if your foes outnumber you to the point that they start to overwhelm you, you can usually use the environment/items/shenanigans/running to even the odds.
oh, last note. look into an Unbreakable Union with a co-player. you wouldn't believe how efficient (and fun) it is to quest with other players. being alone not only gives you numbers and another set of attentive eyes, but there's something to be said for the psychological aspect of having a friend with you.

I've had a few strife based classes, including my native, but I'm not good at advice, but I can give some guidelines.
Partner up, have melee and ranged options, keep some backup healing items (Health and Pluck), and know when you can't win and run.
Hope that helps.

That sounds relatively simple, AND IS QUITE AN OBVIOUS solution.
I started this thread AS AN ATTEMPT TO FIND out players' preferred methods of STRIFE AND DEALING WITH opponents.

Oh, sorry, got carried away on an advice tangent, something that happens when I have to share a session with that girl who keeps saying "I know, we should just blow up (insert land or moon here), that will solve everything!". If you want my preferred strife style that I use when I'm not being so pracical, it's to alchemize a broadsword sized pair of scissors and go to town, my specibus is great for cleaving the arm of an ogre, or taking advantage of sburb's insta-kill decapitations.

When is blowing UP EVERYTHING NOT a viable option? And insta-kill decapitations sounds obvious for ANYTHING. WHAT LIVES without a head?

When the flow player is a speedrunner and just wants to do it so we could skip to the final battle, I'd like to work on level grinding and understanding my role before fighting the king.
As for the obvious combat thing, I'm sort of a combat pragmatist, it's alchemy and social interactions where my odd preferences go into overdrive.

oh, prefered method of blowing things away? i can't say no to massive walls of murderarrows. wastes get the best abilities, hands down. with a crazy amount of Pluck like I had, I didn't even need my Strife Specibus much. now I'm running around dropping progressively larger mirrors on things, and occasionally teleporting heads off.
do you have a Smith or Muse? if so, go on an Alchemy spree with them. throw in as many RAINBOWS into the mix as you can manage, and ignore that little voice that says "this is stupid." sure to lead to either fun or chaos, both of which should help.

Ah, speedrunners, hear they ARE NOT FUN. ALSO, I am a bit pragmatic MYSELF. I ONCE GOT two imps to kill EACH OTHER.
And blackholeInspector, I do INDEED HAVE A PLAYER that is a Muse. AND WE ALSO ADDED rainbows to my deathray!
EDIT: The pink in the RAINBOWS IS A SCIENCE joke. Or a really NERDY ONE, IF YOU want specifics. Pink is NOT A COLOR ON the visible light spectrum, AND IF WE MADE a bracelet out of A RAINBOW, WE WOULD have a blank space DUE TO ULTRAVIOLET AND infrared, and we replace THIS BLANK WITH PINK.

I've restated the contents of my eldritchkind specibus like twice now and they all come in handy, tons and tons of corruption and eldritch magic and tentacle-supported violence tends to kill pretty much anything that winds up in the furthest ring and shouldn't be there.
Here are some fun alchemy tips if you've got tons of grist and want to upgrade your weapon and you can't find any more rainbows to add.
First, abusing the extent of what your specibus will accept in order to create things that would arguably fit in multiple categories of weapon tends to make amazing stuff. Shoving another weapon type in helps even if it'll dilute back out in a few alchemizations.
For example, even if I'm trying to lay low and disguise as a player, I still prefer casting. Shinyness is shiny and lasers are fun. Since Sburb means shit just got real and since magic is fake as shit therefore magic is now real, it's a valid option. If you can alchemize a magic wand into your weapon (or pretty much anything else for that matter) you can make it shoot magical lasers from spikey points like something a Smith made, which has all sorts of deadly applications.
Meleekinds make things a useful melee tool, rangedkinds make things shoot, magical things make sparkly lasers and sometimes spikes (a budding smith's dream right there), puppets and drones and robots and automatic bunnies and whatnot make things that can be operated or operate on their own with some robotic aid, flamethrowers add fire, makeup is prone to chainsaws, other weapon-object duality glitches, you know the drill.
Now stack these all together and you've got a complicated killing machine that looks like a comedic evil robot's palette of arm-mounted ways to kill someone and is just as if not more deadly, possibly with aspect charges depending on materials.
Aspect charges in general are pretty helpful on weapons because unless said aspect is bad at being applied like that or your aspect (in some cases, it can come down to a matter of your title too) is just plain incompatible with it, it basically tends to act as a whisperings-like boost unless it has a different direct application affect that can be exploited. Pretty much any aspect application that could be used to hurt someone can be found and applied to a weapon as a secondary effect besides the direct attacks the weapon itself will be inflicting. You've seen what rainbows and other aspect abilities used to harm look like before, they're actually kind of impressive.
General rules of making overpowered alchemized items apply, don't forget to check those when seeking ideas for stuff to add in.
Have fun, and in the words of Jenna, DON'T DIE! :33
