Hi there! Your resident Mighty Seer here! Now just gonna get something out of the way, currently I'm near the end of my second session and got a hold of some pretty awesome downtime! Okay... well err not so awesome since I'm pretty certain everyone's dead and that I'm in a doomed timeline? I don't really know how this time travel stuff works, what I do know is I've got some crazy ass shenanigan stuff going one to make certain this gets posted on the fourms! (Like seriously, it involves like fifty caparaceans, a bundle of consorts, a few mail carriers and Jack. It kinda sucks nobody is around to see my awesome plan D:) Anyways I might not actually even be the one posting this so if you might have to excuse the few chirps from my consorts from here or there if they added or removed anything!
Anyways, yea, since I'm physically unable to proceed forwards anymore (losing your legs REALLY hurts folks, specially when there's nobody around to help you out... and don't let your Life player fool you, cauterizing a wound hurts even worse!) I've spent the last while thinking about that glitch at the endgame and a few possible ways around it! I'm pretty sure my past self (or is it alternate self? doomed timelines are essinetally entirely differnt things than the Alpha right? So I guess my past self isn't really me... I'm getting off track!) anyways I'm pretty sure my Alternate Past Self is gonna come up with these same ideas or maybe even better ones (we're kinda awesome) so I don't want him reading this so he's gonna be locked out (maybe? Hmmm since I don't remember reading this maybe it might be better if he does, that might change this doomed timeline thingy i'm in now? or maybe I don't remember reading it because I sucessfully locked myself out and oh God my head is killing me.) For fucks sake I'm rambling here listen these are my theories, since this is my second session I actually haven't tried any of these yet but who knows they might work.
Erasing your Titles.
General Theory: This one is at the top because I think it's the most viable. We can all agree that while fun SBURB is kinda a dick. Perhaps the game is glitched at the end because we haven't completed a plot important quest that was supposed to be after killing the Black King and because of a poor scripting we're never notified about this quest! Anyways my theory goes as thus: SBRUB is all about growing up, you spend the entire game doing shit that's incredibly hard, killing your denizen, realizing the power was inside you all along, finding the heart of your land blah blah blah. Anyways at the end of the game once you've completed your journey you're supposed to have grown as a person and also have crazy superman powers.
But for just some reason... this journey doesn't feel complete to me. I just have this nagging feeling that there is something we forgot to do, we go through all the motions but be honest have any of us ACTUALLY learned a lesson? Have we discovered the morel of our story? No, I don't think we have, and so we're forced to hit REPLAY.
Wouldn't it just be like SBRUB to have a lesson in "Giving up the power?" a quest in which after beating the black king you have to come to the realization that because this power is no longer needed, it's time to give it up for some reason? The fact it DOESN'T seems odd to me considering how this is a game of CHOICES I don't think it should end on a climatic battle, but instead a climatic choice. Give up power and claim the reward, or try to cling to it until the game forces you to start from the beginning again hoping this time you learn the lesson, I mean look at the blurb on the back of the SBURB box.
Players (you and your friends) take the role of exiled nobles who have been driven from their rightful place (their Land) by an evil (the Denizen) at the start of the game. These Players are scattered on two kingdoms (Derse and Prospit) that are at war on a promised land (Skaia). This is the setting of the game as it starts.
The goal of the game is for the Players to reach Skaia in order to claim for their own the very thing that Derse and Prospit are fighting for (the Ultimate Reward). Sounds simple but it gets more complicated now. Players aren't allowed to to set foot on Skaia. That's because they have no right to participate in the contest for the Ultimate Reward. The Players have no political leverage, they only have the honorary titles of prince/princess. A title of nobility without a Land means nothing.
Therefore the "role" of Players in the game is to "conquer their Land" in order to prove their worth and obtain recognition as leaders of independent powers. Players start with the title of Heir Transparent, must go through Heir Conditioning (Land Quests) and finally achieve the title of Heir Aspirant. They will then be recognized as autonomous, full-fledged nobles that are allowed to go to the Battlefield (huzzah) and stake their claim for the ultimate reward (bugged). As an extra plot twist, they get to defy the Black King who inevitably wins the war right as they arrive, and which stands before them and victory. (Copied from the Glitch FAQ)
Maybe giving up that title and your land (the same way you gave up your sprite and your denizen) is the REAL final quest. I mean hell, the game even makes you kill your land in the first place right?
Ways to make it happen: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GIVE UP YOUR POWER BEFORE THE FINAL BLACK KING FIGHT UNLESS YOU'VE TRIED EVERY OTHER THEORY IN THIS GUIDE AND WANT TO RISK HAVING TO ACTUALLY FIGHT THE BK WITH NO POWERS. Finding the hypothetical bugged "Give up power" quest is probably gonna be nearly impossible and even if you do it's probably glitched in some way so you can't actually complete it, still I recommend at least keeping your eyes and ears open ESPECIALLY in regards to your whisperings and ESPECIALLY after the BK fight. Since finding the quest is gonna be a bitch, perhaps a Void player could figure out how to erase the scripting for all of your titles? Maybe if there's a denizen still alive (the forge one) you can ask for a Blessing? No other ideas on ways to make this happen really come to mind...
We're waiting for the right people/more people
Okay, we're gonna be getting pretty deep into Might territory here, so I'm gonna try to sum this up as best I can for you poor guys who didn't get the greatest aspect ever!
Everything is connected.
By everything I mean everyone. IN any session, any time and anywhere. The Wave encompasses us all. Everything I do in my session impacts all of YOUR sessions, sometimes majorly sometimes minorly. People have proved that crossing sessions is possible which only proves even more that every session is connected.
In addition more people are playing SBURB, perhaps the glitch on the end credits is about a VERY specific combinations of titles and aspects and lands and genders and people and hell maybe even player ID's being in the credits and since the game isn't finding them in any of the sessions completed as to date the credits glitch out and we can't claim the reward. I bet that once this specific group of players complete the game, the credits from every session onwards will fix themselves for everybody else!
Alternatively, the credits may fix themeselves when the number of replayers is too large for SBURB too handle, when new players are no longer joining the game (there's evidence of this happening already, look at the average session, it normally contains a higher number of replayers than first timers... this goes both ways though, like a computer game with too many objects on the screen freezing up and crashing maybe one day SBURB is fated to load too many players in too many sessions and then brainfart us all out of existance.
Ways to make this happen: For the first one, wait is all we really can do, for the second though it adds a sense of urgency to fixing this glitch before that happens.
Hack the script try to repair the credits
I'm no techoexpert. I have no idea how to do this just a thought, probably super dangerous.
Anyways those are the big three I came up with... ummm oh! I know a lot of people have given up trying to fix the glitch but heres the thing, it CAN be fixed. Here's a very old conversation I had with PS.
PS: Fix?
PS: I don'tthink that's how it works
PS: According to this book, think of glitches like missing and broken parts of reality
VG: oh, dang! okay so we can cross plan A of using awesome Mighty Seer powers to fix the glitch
VG: Well it can't be missing
PS: hmmm
VG: or else we wouldn't be able to see it
VG: right?
PS: ...
VG: we wouldn't know it wasn't there to be missing?
PS: I
PS: huh
PS: wow
VG: so it's just broken!
PS: I haven't really thought of it like that
VG: and broken stuff can get fixed!
Anyways... good luck guys! If this isn't a doomed timeline after all I'll respond to you! If for some reason my epic plan doesn't work out and this doesn't get sent to the forums I've got it written down with my username and password hopefully my time player finds it and posts it for me!
Until next time, in a possibly alternate me!
