I'm going to document some of my second session, I've decided. I hope this isn't too soon or anything like that! I was just hoping that this would be a convenient place for me to ask for questions and advice, and to maybe start documenting observations of my own about the game we all play against our collective wills. After all I do hope to someday be useful to the community at large!
So this morning I went out to school and met the remainder of my coplayers. We all apparently live in the same area and attend the same school, which is news to me! It was so odd, going through a day of ordinary life. Lunch break, toting around a backpack of heavy books and having to pretend it was heavy even though the game's toughened my Mangrit up to passable levels. A boy hit on me. Shot him down, obviously... It was all so strange, to see how alien 'normal' life feels now? I guess I have a new paradigm for normal! Hoo-ray.
I got back home and then something very odd happened! My 'Guardian', who I apparently only know as Sis, pulled me aside. Gave me some snacks she'd baked. Told me she knew I wasn't her real sister, right to my face. Told me it was alright and that she'd protect me all the same. Handed me a key on a chain that apparently used to belong to the person I've replaced? I didn't know whether to be terrified or awestruck or somewhat touched! I ended up prototyping that key, and my sprite ended up being the person I replaced. Morbid. I was creeped out to hell and back. Apparently the player I replaced died early on in the session when they failed to navigate their ARC right and that was what doomed it? I don't know. They're rather weepy about their death, and I haven't been able to console them yet with how cryptic they are about how they feel. Sprites and all, I guess.
Everyone's safely entered, escaped their Ebonpyres, and are busy processing what just happened. I moved ahead and was able to puzzle out all of our titles with help from skiddingZebra's (very slang heavy) guide to navigating and exploiting Consort dialogue trees (poor guys!):
I'm now a Page of Doom. Whatever that means? I didn't have Doom in my old session, so if anybody could give me a rundown? I'm still trying to get through this other guide and see if there's any useful things I need to say to my Iguanas. And the rest of my session, in order of entry:
We have a very polite and reserved girl (I'm not going to describe my coplayers in too much detail, to respect their privacy. I've tried to hand them the links to the Replayer sites but for some odd reason those links are broken for them), who is apparently a Thief of Space. A guy who's kind of shouty and seems to dislike me for some reason? He's our Ward of Might. A kind of funny but kind of rude, tall boy who is to be our Prince of Time. We have a Guard of Rhyme player, which means I'm familiar with the psybuffs in our session! Unfortunately she's quite the scary girl. I swear she's going to punch me every time I glance her way. And finally we have a Witch of Rain, he's kind of dour and doesn't speak a lot, was always quietly sketching while the rest of us chatted and was in fact was still wordlessly working on art even while the meteors were falling!! :0
Apparently Witches prototype things that can cause problems? Ours prototyped a pumpkin from his garden. What could possibly go wrong with that?
