Right, then! My first session was a pretty small one, just me, my sister, and a couple of mutual friends. We actually got through the game pretty quickly, believe it or not. No big glitches or anything like that and all of us survived. Sure, we had a couple of dreamself revivals and the like but no permadeaths.
That's why this is hilarious, not horrifying. It's not funny if it's permadeath.
Our Space player was an avid knife collector. He had these things all throughout his house. Big knives, little knives, throwing knives, those knives that are hidden in the handles of Perfectly Innocuous Objects, the works. This carried over to his dream tower.
In any case, this Spacey guy woke up on Prospit at a pretty young age so he by the time he started collecting knives he was used to recurring settings. He'd already explored Prospit thoroughly and was getting pretty bored with the whole thing. He'd considering flying out into the Veil, but decided it would take too long to be worth it.
So shortly before the game he got bored enough to try teaching himself to juggle. With his knives. Hey, it's just a dream, right? If he messes up and, say, cuts the tendons in his arms, there are no real consequences. It's not like he'd be soon playing a game where an injured dreamself is a liability.
And liability it was. Never get in a knife-fight with Jack Noir when injured. At least he didn't go out unarmed.

Just never get into a knife fight with Jack Noir. He's a terrifying engine of destruction in straight up combat, unlike Droog or the Droll. I should have the scars to prove it-I fought him the first time I got exiled and accidentally got him so riled up that after he was done with my dreamself he came after regular-me for round two. Fortunately, we were able to ambush him and finish things quick.
Still, I suppose that at least in a knifefight, Jack will respect you and not stab you in the back. He's somewhat honorable, in his own twisted way. It's about his only virtue.
