You might be able to get more coherence out of your sprite if you prototype him with something more prone to being, well, coherent. Assuming you haven't prototyped him a second time already, I mean.

Re: your land. What you're seeing could be Denizen Damage, which will need repairing, or it could just be the way your land is right now. Either way, it should change once you've completed your Denizen quests; cope with it, in the meantime. It could always be worse.

As far as mercury poisoning goes - the game usually kills folks faster than that would. And I know Mercury's an actual grist type, which won't kill you (I think). ...honestly, you should probably ask one of the veterans about this. It'd be a good idea to find your consorts, too, and ask who the Heroes of Skaia are - never a bad thing to know who-all you're supposed to be questing with.

That basilisk does sound a little smarter than usual. The difficulty progression sounds about right though. Might be worth checking what your co-players have prototyped.

Oh, and no, that's not what a Berserk Trigger is like. There's no black outs or memory loss associated with most of them. Everything you do whilst under it seems to make sense at the time, but in hindsight it becomes pretty obvious that you were out of your freaking mind. It's also pretty darn early in the game for you to be having one.

EDIT The cog-ninja has a point. Though I suppose that nobody replies to logs, so if you're wanting advice as you go we could leave it where it is.
