Okay so my last session ends, I've got my eyes and my sight back, I'm on a two session roll of no permadeaths, and I'm happy as a fly with a fresh pile of shit Guess Sburb decided I was too happy YO GUESS WHAT BITCH, THE BEAT IS BACK Oh is that all you got Sburb I can handle Time again let's do this And then I started talking to the other folks in my session. Fuuuck I just All three are first timers. I'm the only vet here how did that even happen. They're all young too, like, the oldest just turned 13 a few days ago. They're all naive and thinking this is going to be fun and games. I'm not sure yet if I'm thankful for the abnormally easy time we had with reaching first gates. I mean yay we all got through with our asses still attached, but now they aren't taking me seriously when I tell them this game is dangerous as shit All three of them have a parent in here and I think the chances of them all being non-doomed non-players are pretty slim. Do I tell the kids they better spend time with them while they can? I can't get over how young these kids are. I mean, my first session the youngest of us was about 16? 17? something like that, what is converting sweeps to years I've seen the stats. I know Sburb apparently is targeted for preteens but just fuck. this. game.
TL;DR: Help how do I break it to a bunch of kids that they're in a murder game and everyone they knew back home is gone and their parents are probably goners too.

It is hard. A session ago I had two thirteen years old kids and both of them had parents. It ended with both of the parents dead and double Berserk Trigger (Chaos Dunk + Atomik Bonsai, clearly Might and Space is the best combination) It worked out in the end, but you have to show them support and care. Those kids are usually wise and mature for their age, and will be able to survive on their own. It is better to not tell them about imminent death of their parents, let them cherish the last moments in relative peace and then deal with the aftermath. Psybuffs should fly.

Yeah, best just to let your co-players enjoy what time they have left with their folks. Not like they're gonna get another chance.
Maybe let their Guardians know what's up, assuming they aren't already aware (Guardians have a weird tendency to know what's going on with Sburb right from the get-go). They usually handle the news fairly well, and they might be able to help keep their kids out of trouble.
I'm stuck in a session full of newbies myself, though mine are in their second session at least. Of course, that just means they're shell-shocked instead of naive.

Alright, I'm working on getting contacts for their parents. Little worried about the Ward's Pop, dude apparently wandered off sometime between getting into the medium and pipsqueak getting back from jumping through his first gate, but I've got a handle from him and he's been yelling at me for yelling at his kid over the chat so I guess he's fine for now. Trying to get him back to his kid's dwelling spire before anything goes wrong
Just. Jesus fuck I'm not the comforting type I don't even know how to begin to help these kids when the shit hits. I mean I know, psybuffs and hugs, but if that's not enough? I am the worst at these kinds of things
