So one of my coplayers, to put it bluntly, needs to do some of those maturity quests, however that system's supposed to work. Preferably sooner rather than later. I haven't read enough in the guide yet to know how you find these but I'm hazarding a guess that you'd stumble upon them if you wander your land and talk to your consorts long enough.
Which brings us to the problem: He absolutely refuses to set foot in his land. Honestly the place is such a dump that I can sympathize, but he's kind of acting like an immature kid in general and if this game's supposed to have a fast track to getting people to maturity we need him on it. You know, if we want to succeed rather than wake up to find he's gotten himself killed by charging ahead and ignoring the rest of the party (he's a guard, and I just KNOW he's going to try to solo any dungeon the game lets him in).
Is there an answer besides just strong-arming him into adventuring in swamp-land?

Nope. The game will actually get harder if you try and fast-track stuff like this.
Trust me, he'll stop acting like a whiny little grubling once you march him through a maturity quest or ten. So it's better to just strong-arm him already.
Also, he shouldn't be questing alone as a Guard anyways - his coefficient's better if he works with someone!

That's the problem. We KNOW he needs to team up with people, and we've told him this, but he doesn't want to listen. And it's not so much that I want to fast-track those quests as it is that, assuming they're all located in your own land, you'd have to physically drag him into a gate to get him to even set foot in there. So they're never going to get done.

So drag him. He's going to be missing a good two-thirds of his abilities anyways, if you don't. Also, maturity quests will make him more tolerable to deal with.
He may even thank you for it, afterwards.

As the party seer I hereby order you to physically drag Timmy back into his land. You'll have roleplay coefficient on your side on top of being five years older AND whatever rage meager powers you've been able to learn so far.
Yes I am aware of the irony in ordering around what should technically be our session leader.

Sounds like a job for a Rage aspect to me. Go get your yell on.
Get him some noseplugs if he can't stand the smell, but maturity quests are non-optional if you want to play the game properly (and doing it improperly has consequences).

Hey Danny, this didn't stop being a thing you need to do. In fact it is such a thing moreso now than it was before. Future-me suggested a good recipe for super-bug-repellant, stop by my house to pick some up (you need this, the giant mosquitos can drain half a pint each).

Actually, I talked to Timmy and I changed my mind. His land sucks, the puzzles there are boring, and there's no reason anyone should have to adventure there ever. If those maturity quests don't want to come find him the game probably doesn't care that much about them after all.
I think I'm gonna go kill some spider imps instead. Maybe gain a level or two.

So it turns out baby's first mind hack wasn't all that well thought out or well disguised. Yeah, make him more violent in addition to agreeing your land sucks why don't you.
Fortunately, though, Timmy was able to reverse it perfectly (as far as I can see). I mean, I was a little skeptical that he'd actually be able to undo even such a simple change, but he said he wasn't stupid and took some pictures of the shiny before he did anything. Apparently he can take a picture with his phone from several angles and restore a shiny to that state, even though to me it just looks like a glowy ball.
I'd want him to test on a few more imps before he uses that on imps, but it does give me some ideas... (at least one of which would require restoring me to a backup before I came up with that idea, but luckily he took it in time).
By the way, does that proclaimed ability strike anyone as normal? Or, umm, possible? He is a Guard if that helps, maybe the game's cheating on his behalf here.

I know I made sketches when I was the Sage of Heart, though a lot of folks just remember what a shiny looked like.

I'd just like to add that I don't remember anything at all between me talking to Timmy and Timmy restoring me to "backup". He tried to justify this with "Hey, she did say you were the weak link and blah blah blah", but since he also conveniently made me not drag him through his land I'm not buying it. The level I gained under the influence seems to have stuck though.
Welp, guess it's time to go explore the Land of Prisms and Swamp. Maybe it's not as bad as he says.
