(tl;dr: The fight with the Black King went wonky seven weeks ago and Skaia + Battlefield + Frog are gone now. Space player's Denizen says screw off. I'm a Thief of Mist. Wat do?)
Hey, everybody. I just stumbled on the forums a few days ago and posted a lot of what this problem is in my 'hello'. At the time I was thinking that I had a hopeless case on my hands, and it would be best just to get used to it. Now, I don't know.
So here's the setup. During the final boss fight, we had him down to where like one good fraymotif barrage from all of us would have sealed the deal. But the King landed this really solid hit on Ferris, who was Smith of Space, and she did something in response that GGTG's guide would probably call a Berserk Trigger. You know that whole sucking-in-lines and spitting-out-crackling thing that a player sometimes does when the attack they're about to use has an instant-death radius? That was going on everywhere. I yelled at everyone to get the hell out of there and did [You Are Now The Other Guy] to GTFO immediately. There was a flash, and then a smaller flash, and then a really goddamn huge flash, and then I was a carapace guy on Prospit, and then I was myself, and Skaia was gone. I could see maybe some little chunks of it left, just sort of floating in space. Definitely no Battlefield, definitely no clouds anymore, definitely no Frog.
The problem: Skaia, the Battlefield, the Frog, Black King, and all my friends are gone. Everything else is stuck in that "you can do it, here comes the final battle!" script. It's been about seven weeks, I think, give or take, and no Reckoning finishing, and clearly I'm still here. The idea I had was that we lost, but the game glitched so that it didn't wipe everything out with the loss. I'm not sure about that now, so right now the official diagnosis is "fuck if I know". Friends aren't showing up online, and haven't replied to pings.
What I have: I'm Thief of Mist at top of echeladder. Didn't hit God Tier. Ferris and Sarah did, they were Smith of Space and Mage of Time respectively; noone else did. Got five worlds of consorts, resources, probably a ton of undone quests, endgame equipment, tons of grist, about eighty boonbucks and change. And given that it's been nearly two months, I'll go out on a limb and assume that I've got time, too.
There was some advice and ideas from my hello post:
"Copy Bomb": I'd really rather not try to duplicate Skaia until I know it doesn't exist. The consequences of copying something still in existence are a little scary.
Grab a ship from Derse/Prospit, get Time player to negotiate with Others, and GTFO: Also scary. Also I don't have a Time player now, see above.
Ask the Space player's Denizen: Here's where shit gets weird. Ahriman just laughs at me when I ask for a boon. He said - and I quote - "Oh, are you all done with your little angsty pity party? This is your quest, you clean it up. Pick up your beat and come back when you have a real problem, chunky."
...it seems really weird that this actually makes me feel better. If the Denizen doesn't give a shit, doesn't that mean that the session is still okay? Somehow?
So... I need ideas. If my session isn't broken, what's going on with it, and what do I do with it?
