So. I'm not sure what to make of this.
I was beating on imps, as usual, nabbing some grist, etcetera etcetera, when I spot this one imp just sort of standing off to the side and watching. Not like the usual "i'm waiting for an opportunity to grab your face" way, either. Just kind of, like, checking out my strifing ability or something.
Anyway, I figured i'd leave it be, so I turned to go back to my Dwelling Spire, and it followed me. When I turned and brandished my bat at it, it just stopped and looked at me in this weird way, like it didn't know why I was attacking it.
It's sitting next to me, right now, watching me type this, and I don't know what to make of it. Has anyone encountered something like this before?

Could be a captcha monster. Try captchaloging it. Or maybe it's just a glitch. Bash its head in.

HYPOTHESIS: PERHAPS IT IS SOME KIND OF PASSIVE, NON-HOSTILE UNDERLING, MOST PLAYERS WOULD HAVE KILLED IT ON THE SPOT. CURIOUS. DON'T ATTACK IT, WE REQUIRE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

Captcha Cardmonsters are the SHIT, man. I wasn't much of a collector, but I managed to breed [Flare] into an Imp and use it as a portable turret.
...Oh right, the strange neutral monster. Cardmonsters don't start out neutral, you HAVE to wail on them until they submit (It's the only way they learn). If it's not attacking, Bring some other players to your location and see if it aggros THEM. I don't think Space has any emotional manipulation, so it's probably not a passive thing you are doing- have everybody scan it for anything.

Alternately, you've managed to mistake CD for an imp. Kind of understandable, since he is about the same size and all.
If so, shoo him out of your Spire or kill him - he's surprisingly dangerous when he's having one of those moments where he's being competent. Especially when it comes to explosives.
(Speaking of - once he's gone, check your Spire to make sure it hasn't been booby-trapped.)

To the OP, if the thing is peaceful (and REALLY peaceful, make sure it's not a murder-you-while-you-sleep thing) then just let it be (or if the Captain is being serious, then do... what he's talking about). A pet imp would be honestly pretty cool.
May the Owl's luck be with your imp-taming adventures,
