AE:yeah, small world. well, in the literal senses, the worlds are pretty big, but this one will be quite a bit smaller in a few hours. AE:how funny about that. AE:that's two down from the list, which puts just five more to check.

LL: Should we start playin9? Or... decide the playin9 order? If no one else wants to 9o, I'll be willin9 to be furst client. LL: As fur the room I just woke up in, it's purrtty lack-luster. LL: There's a bookshelf, a few video 9ame posters. They seem... eerily similar to the ones back home... LL: I... feel like I reco9nise some of these books, too. Are these "Harry Potter" books any 9ood? LL: There's also this... Hitchhiker's 9uide to the 9alaxy thin9. I have no idea what these books are, but they seem interestin9.

AE:eh, they're just two of the most popular fiction books for two different age groups. AE:as for entering, we should wait for the rest of these people to make sure we don't leave anyone, or end up with odd configurations. AE:i've seen enough die from malevolence, i don't want any to start dying off from impatience or laziness.

TG: GM, I believe what you encountered was my future self. Apparently, next session I managed to break something big-time as the something of Time. As for that post, it worries me a great deal... oh well. It will be dealt with as the time comes. TG: Also, both of those books are very good, should a proper amount of time for reading surface in the game. TG: ...On another subject, the locked door is extremely worrying. I do not know where the key is, and it could well be over a week before the game starts. TG: An internet search reveals no indication of meaningful meteor strikes in the last few weeks, which gives us some time to prepare. TG: However, of all the ways to die in this game, fatal starvation or dehydration pre-session seems like an extremely unsatisfactory one. TG: And I lack anywhere near enough Mangrit to break the (thick and possibly steel-plate reinforced) door, nor do I have the know-how or materials(?) to pick the various secure locks. TG: Advice would be appreciated.

PT: sure! : D PT: i wont captchalogue it now, because i probably wont be able to find it for a while PT: but i will totally get you that code PT: as for you, mister tradingcardGamer PT: search the room for clues PT: like PT: a detective or something PT: or you could try the ceiling PT: or the window PT: if the ceiling has those soft foamy tiles you can push them up and get into the space between floors PT: but that's usually really small PT: hopefully youre pretty thin PT: or, if the window doesnt have bars you can jump out PT: even if its a couple stories up PT: you can still look for other nearby windows PT: i could totally help you from there PT: im an expert in survival situations PT: though most of them involve being in the middle of an ocean with one person and part of a sailboat :/

TG: Right. TG: I will investigate.
You get up from the computer, going to the window. You pull aside the curtain, and look do- woah that is a long way down.
You seem to be on a high floor of an apartment building- like at least ten floors up- and the wall's all smooth, no convenient ledge of dramatic entrances.
Right, search for the key...
You spend several minutes searching everywhere in the room for a key. You check under the bed, across the shelves, in the desk drawers, around the windowsill, but nothing.
You turn to the door, an idea forming.
Lamplight: ...Ness, I hope you're not thinking about what I think you are.
You don't respond. You tilt your head down, the spikes of your hair pointing at the door.
Ness: aaaaAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!
You dash forward, hitting the door with your hairspikes.
Ness: ...ooooOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
You stagger backwards, jostling the voice-to-text switch on the computer.
TG: iagboahIOGTIRSGBUIARGTIy7dg9t4qyughr98uyoighjo TG: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW TG: THAT DIDN'T WORK TG: WHY DID I TRY THAT TG: THAT WAS IDIOTIC TG: OOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW --The volume limit on tradingcardGamer [TG]'s computer was exceeded--

You compose yourself, rubbing the back of your head. You turn off voice-to-text.
Lamplight: That was a brilliant move... Ness: Ah, shoosh you.
You type.
TG: Ahem. TG: Sorry about that outburst. TG: My attempt at forcing the door went awry. Do not worry; there was no lasting damage. TG: The ceiling is solid plaster, and I am at least ten stories up the smooth side of a skyscraper. I found no keys in my search. TG: As to the tools for exiting, while greatly appreciated, how do you plan on getting them to me?

GM: ... GM: ... GM: Give you the code? GM: I never get starting out right... I just walked to my friend's house when we were not yet in that place with the actual game stuff in my first game. GM: Except for Allie. GM: Keep forgetting my coplayers are not usually within spitting distance now.

TG: Yes, but we are facing the problem that we still have not started the game, and judging by a continued lack of impacts we will likely remain as such for at least a few days. TG: And I believe that starting the game early would be only an act of extreme desperation, only to be used in an emergency due to the sacrifice of time to prepare and, possibly, session members. TG: Hence, an alchemy code would be of no immediate use.

GM: Wait, i just realized something. GM: You are a duelist in your world, your world runs on that stuff, i remember reading about it. GM: Why not have your thingy break the door? GM: Might have saved you a potential concussion. GM: Not to mention useful.

AE:presumably, that simply doesn't work in more sane worlds. AE:anyway, you might want a trick a learned to do: no matter how many locks a door has, or how heavy it is, you can sometimes break through the more fragile wall. AE:especially those idiots who have steel doors with painted drywall and wood frame. AE:of course, being locked in a room might be useful for a bit come entry time, since it means only imps spawning within the area can get to you. AE: their's still a window you could build up from, right?

Jason: Sane world?
GM: We spend our lives using Game Abstractions to carry stuff around and learn how to fight things instantly with before we ever get the accompanying game. GM: Is there such thing as a sane world? GM: Also one world's crazy is another's norm.
