So my current batch of co-players are, barring one exception, all just on their second session and still pretty down in the dumps about finding out that the ultimate reward is glitched and they have to keep playing the apocalyptic murder game for basically the rest of their lives.
I'm sure most of you folks can remember the feeling, where you're wondering what the point of going on is and imagining that life is just going to be one big endless wheel of suffering and watching friends die from now on.
As the big ol' veteran of the session, and the Bane of Hope on top of that, I reckon I should do something to remind them that good things still happen along the way and that it's worth carrying on for reasons other than pure survival. I've been talking to them as much as I can, but they don't really think they've got much to look forward to at the moment. My solution is to get them together and have a little party between us, get them all smiling again and remind them that there are good things that can still happen despite all the shit Sburb throws our way.
It'll probably also be a good way to break the ice between us, I hope. I must seem pretty scary to these folks at the moment, all things considered.
Problem is, I've never thrown a party before. Don't laugh, it's just never come up. Not to mention I'm not exactly in a jubilant mood at the moment. I can provide all sorts of cakes and confectionery (I am a fuck-awesome baker) but what else should I make sure to do to get everyone's spirits up. Suggestions?

Movies! Especially comedies! I suggest finding some of Charlie Chaplin's stuff, because it is awesome.
Games are also good, especially ones that are just as fun to watch as they are to play. Twister and Dance Dance Revolution would work well if your players are fine with laughing and being laughed at about fumbling mistakes.
No booze, no matter how old you all are. Don't take the risk that someone will be a sad drunk and bring everything down.

Movies added to the checklist. I've never actually watched any of Chaplin's stuff, not usually my thing, but I'll see if I can track some down. The sofa is already in place and dog hairs removed.
Unfortunately the only games I have access to are RPGs and wargames. Much as I used to enjoy playing 40K, it doesn't exactly seem appropriate.
Booze was a no-go anyway. The Lady disapproves.

Use this code: OGG4ugh4 It produces thing that is mostly made from apples. Also it is good. Only perusable if they are all legal to drink though.
Also alchemise Paper || various Aspect Ideographs, but Rain works the best. It makes decorations and they can have funny effects. Just DO NOT ALCHEMISE DOOM OR BREATH!
Try to invite some Consorts, they are life of the party, really.
Also, party games are a thing.

Yeah, alcohol is staying off the list. All of them are underage (not that that'd stop the Bard), I'm steadfastly against the stuff anyway and it's probably a really bad idea in these circumstances anyway.
Party games are totally a thing though. I shall give the subject some thought.
Hopefully I can pull this off without coming across like a major creep.

Yeah, I don't think alcohol is a good idea. Maybe soda, if you can alchemize it?
And get a deck of cards, that's always a good idea. You could play Mafia!

Don't play party games if you have Light or Mind Heroes, as they would ruin them
And yeah, if they are underage, better don't let them drink.
A good bet is alchemising tap water and brown sugar, it may create coke.

Music is pretty common at parties, I think.

Music that one can dance to, double check the playlist for anything angsty.
Party games are an excellent idea, provided they're not the sort that can be cheated at by players with the power to do so. Maybe truth or dare? Nothing quite like seeing someone be an idiot for a minute to forget your torubles.

Ooh yeah! Party games! If you have any shared celebrities then Sleep With, Marry, or Kill is a fun one. I don't know how well it will work if all that's shared are names, but it can't hurt to try. Or stuff like charades, Mafia, or Pictionary.
I still think DDR is your best bet, since it's fun to watch as well as play.

Ooh, I like this idea! I should go throw a party for my player buddies, we could use the Morale! Have you guys got a Rain player? That's an aspect that's just made for partying, some of their abilities will make you happy whether you like it or not!
I understand if you'd rather not go the artificial happiness route, though. If that's case, you're gonna need music, decorations, and food as your bare essentials. Maybe some funky lighting if you can figure out how to alchemize it. Make sure you've got a wide variety of food, and maybe ask your co-players what they like before you plan it out. The music should be happy music of course, but not overly so. And like someone else mentioned, be sure not to throw anything angsty into the mix. If you want my personal suggestions, I'd recommend putting emphasis on the cool stuff you can do with sBURB abilities. That's what cheered me up after my first session, so maybe it'll work for them too! Good luck planning the party guy, I hope all goes well. ^_^
