Lots of different kinds of player here. Trolls. Humans. Hobs. Birds. Slimes. Dog-people.
Everybody just goes on hearsay. No central library of information, no guide. I hear about a polite FAQ?

[Warning warning blah blah blUh]
Soooooo, trolls. Some people have met Us in-game, bUt not everyone has. I think I talked to a hUman once who thoUght I was something called an "Otherkin" whatever the fUck that is. Another alien?
BUt yeah, trolls are Ur standard conqUer-the-fUck-oUt-of-everyone species. Been warring with the Universe for thoUsands of years. We're bipedal, face like a hUman's bUt with more teeth. Grey skin, orange fingernails, and yellow-orange-red horns. The horns vary in shape and to a lot of people bigger is better. Mine, if Ur interested, cUrve oUt the side of my head and down.
Oh right, can't forget the blood colors. We have a caste system based on blood color, red at the bottom and pUrple at the top with a rainbow of colors in-between. Ur sUpposed to type with the same color as Ur blood, bUt some people go for anonymoUs and type in grey, black, or some other impossible color. Others may change theirs slightly to make their text more legible, like my aUspistice. Yellow text is a pain in the ass to read so she types darker than her blood. Sometimes people think they can get away with pretending to be a higher caste, bUt they don't last long.
Here's a cUltUral tidbit: we all have a symbol assigned to Us before we leave the Hatching Caverns. There's a fUckton of them and they're based on things blood color, gender, and horn shape among others. It's a pretty big deal to meet someone with Ur same sign. Ur sUpposed to wear them at all times too. I have mine in my avatar since there's no one on this forUm that can see my shirt.

My people, and I'm not actually 100% sure how to put our name in your letters. Kyrrieh. Kreeah? something like that anyway. My people are bipedal birdlike humanoids. I've seen human and troll "angel" pictures, we aren't like that. I don't know how you'd even give birds a third set of limbs like that. We have wings instead of your arms, not in addition, and use our talons for things trolls or humans would use their hands for. I'm pretty short for my species at almost six feet, and have rather nice chestnut feathers along my head and back. My mate had silvery-pale feathers, and one of my nestmates had ones that were almost crow black. So there's a variation.
We live with our parents for the first eight to twelve years, whenever theres a new clutch, basically.i stayed and helped raise my parents next clutch, but it's very unusual for that to happen. Then you go find a nice mate, claim some territory of your own, and settle down. By fifteen, you'd usually have at least one clutch of your own unless you were very fixated on your career or doing something dangerous. Or couldn't have eggs for other reasons I guess. It's pretty much unheard of to have more than one mate, is the other big social difference, I guess. A fair amount of the time, actually, bereaved partners die instead of living without their mate.
We had computers and other technology on that level, but not really much in the way of space travel like it sounds like some of you had.
I can't think of what else to say. If anyone has questions, I'll answer them.

Oooh! What a great idea!
I am a member of the race known as Infucatum (singular: Infucatus). We are generally humanlike in body shape. We have black hair, and our eyes are completely black, except for the pupils. Our skin, however, is bone-white. All the better to show off our markings!
Each Infucatus is born with a pattern of markings covering his or her body, in some shade of grey. The colors fill in around 9 human years (12 Infucatus years). From there, we get placed into a particular caste based on what color we are. Red is the laborer, blue is the combatant, etc. Once you get your color, you move to a dorm with other people your caste, where you receive schooling on the various types of specialties you can choose based on your caste. At 18 human years (24 Infucatus years), you enter the work force and become a productive member of society, based on the knowledge you have gained and the specialty you have chosen. Well, you would have, if my friends and I didn't destroy the planet. Oh well!
If your markings don't fill up with color, you are branded taboo and exiled to the wastelands and/or the swamps, where you live without any assistance from the rest of society.
My color is, as you can see, lime. Lime is one of the hybrid colors, being in between two colors. Other hybrids include teal and indigo. Being a hybrid means I have a more specific job than anyone in a particular single color. Being in between yellow, the craftsman/engineer caste, and green, the social caste, means that I will go into the medical field.
If you have any questions about the Infucatum, please don't hesitate to ask!
Also, just for reference, I have heard my markings being described as a full-body tattoo, which may be a thing to help people understand. Whatever a tattoo is.

Because I'm fairly sure no one else is going to bring it up, I'll give the rundown on Humans. Just 'cause we're the majority on these boards, doesn't mean a quick primer isn't gonna be useful for all the other species running around.
Physically, we're bipedal humanoids and could be accurately described as hairless apes, if you wanted to be incredibly rude. Two legs, two arms, a head etc. Our skin varies from pale pink to a really dark brown. Only substantial amount of hair you'll find is on the tops of our heads, though as we age we grow a little in other places (which we're generally uncomfortable talking about). Our blood is always red unless something really strange is going on (likely either a game thing, or a ridiculously deadly disease) but our eye colours have a wide range of shades, particularly for players (the vast majority of us players use our eye colour as our text colour, though exceptions abound). Our evolution appears to have selected for sociability, tool-use and endurance hunting in arid conditions (the last point is basically irrelevant, but it should give you some idea of what our physiology is optimised for).
Socially, we generally like to get along with folks, but have a unfortunate tendency to disdain whichever group is most different from us - this is usually countered by good cultural influences, but watch out for the rare few chuckleheads you still think discrimination is a thing they should do. Our primary relationships are family, those who are directly related to us, friendships, those we associate with and care about in some way, and romantic, which is the one that we use to determine our mates and is based around a deep bond of mutual love and respect (at least in theory, in practice it's a whole lot more complex and gives me a headache just thinking about trying to explain it). I'm probably explaining this wrong, what with being terrible at it, and the exact order of precedence varies based on culture, but this should be a place to start - talk to your human coplayers if you want to get a better handle on how things work for us.
Culturally, our cultures usually end up being at around the point where we've developed a worldwide data network and are beginning to make our first forays into space exploration. Internal strife and discrimination is usually on the die down, though far from gone, and violence is still a thing that happens in places but is considered distasteful by many. This all heavily generalised, but it should give a rough benchmark of what to expect the first time you end up in a session with one of us.
With regards to the game, we appear to either be the ones it was intended for, or at least the closest of any known species to date. Which explains why there's so many of us drifting about, and why we're considered the baseline which everyone else is compared to in this community.
Hope that's of some use to any non-humans who've never encountered one of us in person before.

You forgot adaptability. Humans are really good at adapting to varied climates, as long as there's enough water. And then there's the Kzinti Lesson...

I think probably by troll standards a lot of us would ACTUALLY be huge pale-flirts, honestly. If not something with more follow-through. For instance, where I come from, sleeping curled up in piles with anywhere from two to six people, after a party say or while traveling, it wouldn't be unusual at all. My impression is that if a troll or one of the other species mentioned here did that sort of thing, it would raise some serious eyebrows.
Of course, not all human cultures are that way, but still.

Well my species is called the Yssaniar. I've seen people say Yssidrian, and that also works.
We are bipedal, cannid-esque creatures. (At least that's what I've been told) We are noted for having horns, four ears, and tails. Also we have four nostrils on our muzzles. We have scales across our elbows, knees, muzzles, top of our heads, and across the tops of our tails. At the end of our tails we have a small bone 'club', that is often used for bludgeoning. Most of our body is covered in fur, that ranges from light tan, to grays and blacks. Patterns are varied by quite a bit, from solid to striped. Our scales are the same color as our horns and claws. They can range from almost clear to black.
Our blood color is a blue hue, and in lighter colored scales can often be seen through them.
We are omnivorous, and are not picky at all in our diet. Our keen hearing is also a problem, as most of us have trouble listening to some of the same music that humans do. It causes our ears to bleed. So if you do end up with one of us in your session, please be respectful and tell people if your music is loud. Also notable, you cannot tell our physical gender by looking at us, all sexual organs are internal. We don't have mammary glands, so females are not quite as apparent.
Litters for our species range between eight to twelve pups at a time. Infant mortality is high, due to illnesses transferred from parents to young. Usually out of a litter of twelve, only three will survive. We are live born, and are able to move, see, and eat solid food hours after birth. We also do not have a physical gender until we are several years old. After that we can switch our gender based on environmental, or social needs. Most have a preferred gender, such as myself, who enjoys being female.
We usually end up having mating groups of four, with one Broodmother, and three Denkeepers. [one female, three males] We are extremely social, living in groups of up to sixteen individuals in one den. Most of the time we sleep together, in giant piles. All young in the den are considered siblings, whether or not they are biologically related.
We thrive on social interaction... so uh, if you see any of us in your session, feel free to walk up and start talking/hugging/grooming/touching in any way shape or form. We have no need for personal space, and in fact do not get upset by others being in our space.
Just keep in mind that we also have personal space issues and you may have to remind some of us to get out of yours.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Oh wow, everyone sounds so interesting! Um. As for my species uh, we're Fauns. And um. Well hopefully I can manage to describe us okay but um. Actually I'll just let Adoni do this he's better at describing things
Oh uh okay hi? Ant just kind of pushed her headset at me okay. Er, okay yeah so I'll describe us Fauns for you guys I guess. We're bipedal, come in a variety of colors and some of us have antlers and some of us don't. Okay bye. Okay Ant isn't at all pleased with that guess I'll go on. Um...Alright so yeah we pretty much only have hair from our heads down our backs and ending at our tails. It's pretty thick for most of us but fauns from Thous and other southern areas have pretty short hair. Ant's from Thous we think, or at least one of her parents was. Haircolor and antler shape/who even grows antlers also depends on where you're from. Rothinish fauns vary from a light greyish brown to a dark grey, with some white mixed in. Males and and females both grow antlers, which tend to swoop back and just branch out all over the place. Thousern fauns are generally reddish brown with black and light tan spotting, and only the bucks grow antlers. Those grow more out to the sides normally and look a bit more organized. Psst: internet strangers, keep it secret but I think our big headed friend only hates Thousern because he's jealous of their neatly arranged antlers he will never achieve. Ow Ant stop that I was kidding quit it Oh yeah and islanders tend to not have antlers at all they have tusks weird huh? Ant don't hit me again please. Oh and they are light brown and usually don't have spots. Well usually. There's a bunch of islands where it's just mixed to all hell and none of what I just said applies because everyone has a bit of everything. Okay Ant I'm going to go and punch Kuma now you can finish the rest right?
Um. right. Um, we're pretty social creatures. We live in groups called circles, which are normally have between 4-15 adults and their children in them. The number really depends on when the circle was established, usually ones around longer will be closer to 15. It doesn't tend to go over that number simply because many more than that and there just ends up being too much conflict and some break away to form their own. Um. Each one is lead by either a Matron or Patron, who is usually the oldest but in newer circles it's whoever came out on top after challenging everyone else and then everyone else kind of falls into place. M/Patrons are the circle's voice in the city council. M/Patrons always have a Second who is basically the one who will be in charge if something happens to them, but in most cases their duty is to oversee the rest of the circle. Um. In female circles, with the remaining, those in the middle are tasked with raising and teaching the children until they're old enough to work too or for the boys to go off to their father's circle which is around 14 unless the Matron or Second thinks you're not ready but that doesn't happen often, and um they work if they wish. Those on the bottom take care of working to support the rest. In male circles, it's kind of flipped? All of them work but usually the Second and those in the middle aim for joining the guard so they don't have much time for taking care of the den and sometimes they go periods unpayed so those on the bottom have to make up for it.
And um. I guess I'll stop there unless there's anything else people want to know? um

My species are called Balanswar, and the closest species I can tell to ours here are Kyrrieh/Kreeah. We're carbon based life forms, we breath oxygen and are heterotrophic omnivores.
We're bipedal, and have feathers down to the waist and on the tail, below which we have fur. We range from about 4 feet tall to about 5 and a half feet tall. Only very few of us can fly, though almost all can glide, we have arms with a thin web of feathers connected from wrist to torso. Our tails are used for balance and for quickly changing directions during fast movement. Some of us can run at up to 55 mph. Our feather color describes natural and social tendencies for us. I'm a green feather, we tend to be more intellectual. There are 6 other colors, red, who tend to be stronger and slightly larger, purple, who tend to be much faster, Yellow, who tend to be able to glide a good bit more and can occasionally fly, brown, also known as common feathers, due to they don't seem to favor any specific trait and are more common than other types, black, which are fairly rare, they're often shunned due to their tendency to hear voices in their mind with disturbing prophecies which often come true, and their tendency to research the dark arts, and pink, pink feathers are very rare, and are much larger than other colors, often ranging from around 6 and a half feet to 8 feet tall, they tend to become societal leaders.
We hatch from eggs in one of the nesting plains, of which there are about 25 of around our planet, Magnamundia. We rarely meet our parents, as only pink bloods stay with their eggs. The Mother Birds take care of us for about the first 6 twists, or2.5 human years, of our life. We then leave the nesting plains and either live in a flock, I believe the closest human term would be colony, or live on our own.
There are three other species in our system, the Feovum, Lunintrra, and Naufraggi. I'll let these species introduce themselves whenever they join the fora, as I don't know much about Lunintrra or Naufraggi, as they come from Illunius and Cingulumn, respectively, and so don't often come to Magnamundia, what I do know is that Feovum are often called iron-skins, because their skin's primary component is, in fact, iron; Lunintrra are nitrogen-phosphorus based, they're quadrupedal, and Naufragii use natural nuclear fission to generate energy, which, due to some unfortunate accidents, has created some pretty friggin massive craters and given them a few more asteroids in their belt.

Sorry to perform thread Necromancy, but according to a guide I've found your species can result in you getting different abilities. Note that what I'm relaying is second-hand, so it's accuracy is suspect; I haven't actually met anyone who isn't human.
The guide goes into a lot of detail on how the original biological tendencies of the species influence what abilities they get. Kryyieh (being airborne ambush predators) get a lot of tricks that enhance flight abilities, or hit hard and fast. Humans, being endurance predators, are more likely to get tricks to get them to outlast opponents, work through exhaustion, or that just go on for a long time. The guide's author ranted a lot about this one human in his session (a Life aspect) who apparently won fights with his non-human teammates by simply fighting until the other guy passed out from fatigue. Apparently he found that dishonorable.

The fatigue thing likely has more to do with being a Life aspect than being a human, for example. Any other species could pull off the same trick if they had the right role.

Does... mmm.
Is anyone interested in what I can tell them about-- well, as far as I know, I'm the only... one of my kind playing, but if someone is intersted in what I can tell them about giants-- not that I can tell much, I didn't meet many others myself before the game started...
But. I'm willing to offer what I know? If anyone wants to learn anything?
